What are Biostimulators?
Biostimulators are compounds injected deep into your skin in the layer called the dermis. Unlike dermal fillers that just created more volume, biostimulators will stimulate new tissue growth and help your skin naturally produce its volume. Biostimulators come in many options that include both injectables (Radiesse, Sculptra) and non-injectables (Microneedling, Threads).
Biostimulator Injectables:
- Radiesse: Radiesse is an injectable dermal filler that is made up of calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) that integrates into your skin, creating a structure that encourages cell growth and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. This results in smoother, renewed skin creating a natural look. The final results from Radiesse treatments will last about 15 months.
- Sculptra: Sculptra is another injectable filler treatment used to gradually help replace lost collagen. Formulated with a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), it restores the deep, underlying structure of the skin to smoothen out facial wrinkles. Sculptra is not intended to be an “overnight” effect, but rather one that should be performed as a series of about four treatments with the intent to achieve results that can last up to two years.

- Microneedling: Often referred to as collagen induction therapy, microneedling is a non-surgical alternative that stimulates your body’s healing response and kickstarts collagen and elastin production. During treatment, a special tool containing many tiny needles is moved across the skin creating micro-wounds. These tiny punctures trigger the production of collagen to improve wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars, large pores, hyperpigmentation, and so much more.
- Threads: Threads are made with special suture material known to trigger collagen production in the skin as it’s absorbed into the body. These threads are inserted under the skin using a cannula to gently lift the skin and underlying tissues for a more youthful appearance. Over time, the thread will dissolve, leaving you with your collagen for a natural improvement.

What’s the first step?
The first step in getting a Biostimulator treatment in Beverly Hills is to contact the Beverly Hills Aesthetic Surgical Institute and schedule your consultation. When you come into our boutique clinic, you will meet with Dr. Saadat and discuss what your goals are. The two of you will discuss your options and which Biostimulator treatments will be best for you depending on your medical needs, aesthetic goals, and personal desires. Once he has collected all the information needed, Dr. Saadat will create your treatment plan. Depending on what treatment you decide on, you can either have your procedure down following your agreement with the plan, or you may need to schedule your treatment with our Patient Coordinator.
What to Expect On The Day of Biostimulators
During your Biostimulator procedure, we will always make sure you are comfortable and that your experience is as enjoyable as possible. Depending on what is decided during your consultation, your treatment expectations will vary. During most treatments, a topical numbing ointment will be applied to the targeted area, but we will always provide you with an option to ensure that you are in minimal pain. Every patient has a threshold for pain and discomfort, so this will be discussed during your treatment.
If you are receiving a non-injectable Biostimulator, your experience will be completely dependent on which treatment you are getting.
- Microneedling: During your microneedling treatment, the Aesthetician will use a handheld device that makes thousands of mini-punctures into your skin. They will often make multiple passes over your skin to ensure you have the best results.
- Threads: A thread treatment does require some minor incisions that allow Dr. Saadat to manipulate your skin with minimal invasion. Once these incisions are made, a thin needle or cannula (thin, hollow tube) will be used to insert the threads underneath your skin. Using the cannula, the threads will be inserted into your skin using a needle and be anchored to your inner structure. After pulling the thread to tighten your skin, the cannula will be removed. You may feel light pressure or tighten under your skin during your treatment, but within a few minutes of the needles being taken out, your procedure will be complete and you’ll be free to go home or back to work.

Aftermath
Your Biostimulator recovery will vary depending on your treatment, but you should always take it easy the first few days up to a few weeks post-treatment. Most patients are completely healed about a month later, but every recovery time will be different based on your body and the particular Biostimulator treatment you received. We will always provide you with directions on how to get the most out of your treatment and prevent any unnecessary hazards.
