David Saadat, M.D., founder and owner of Beverly Hills Aesthetic Surgical Institute and Roxbury Surgical center, talks about the variety of intergenerational relationships people can have inside and outside of family and the value of pursuing self-improvement.
LOS ANGELES, CA September 19, 2018: Owner and Founder of Beverly Hills Aesthetic Surgical Institute and Roxbury Surgical Center, David Saadat, M.D., posted a new article on his website entitled, “A Month To Acknowledge Intergenerational Relationships and Self-Improvement.” Dr. Saadat also acknowledges what a privilege it is to help patients improve their self-confidence through his work and that age could be more and more difficult to pinpoint.
Dr. Saadat writes, “September is a month dedicated to the celebration of many wonderful aspects of life.” He continues to elaborate, “One of the most important to me is intergenerational relationships. Those relationships we develop first within our families: First and foremost is the relationship between parents and children. Then there is the extended family of aunts, uncles, and grandparents. Then as we move out into life we meet others, perhaps teachers who become mentors and work associates who may be much older who have a powerful impact on our lives.”
“September is the month that has been designated as the time to intentionally connect with these different age-related groups that are so important to our lives,” says Dr. Saadat, adding, “It is also the month in which we celebrate Grandparents Day on the first Sunday of the month. Those two celebrations go hand-in-hand. The purpose of the of Grandparents Day, is “to honor grandparents, to give grandparents an opportunity to show love for their children’s children, and to help children become aware of the strength, information, and guidance older people can offer.”
Dr. Saadat elaborates on the start of celebrating intergenerational relationships and then goes on to give an example of a powerful relationship that has been portrayed in a book and movie. Dr. Saadat states, “One of the best examples of a powerful intergenerational relationship comes from the movie and book written by Mitch Albom called, Tuesdays With Morrie.” He continues adding, “In the book, Morrie Schwartz was one of Albom’s college professors. When Albom was a young college student, Professor Schwartz helped him see the world from a more profound perspective and gave him sound advice to help him make his way through tough college years. Twenty years later, Albom rediscovered Morrie in the last months of the older man’s life. Knowing he was dying, Morrie visited with Mitch in his study every Tuesday, just as they used to back in college.”
