Traditional vs. Ethnic Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty commonly referred to as a nose job, is a surgical procedure that is in place to correct defects and issues in the shape, size, and functionality of the nose.

Another common reason that a Rhinoplasty is performed is down to the alleviation of breathing issues and other medical issues that relate to the function and structure of the nose. More commonly, Rhinoplasty can also be performed to change the aesthetics of the nose in general, nasal tips, and nostrils. In effect, this can change the way the nose looks, including the width and length. With a Rhinoplasty being performed, it can also increase self-confidence and overall health.

The difference between a traditional rhinoplasty and an ethnic rhinoplasty is down to the anatomy in a Caucasian and non-Caucasian nose. Patients that have Asian, African Americans, Latino, or Middle Eastern commonly have different nasal structure compared to Caucasian patients. Both Ethnic and people of the color frequently have a more smooth, flatter, and possibly wider bones in their noses, combined with fewer bones, cartilage, and support in the nasal structure.

In most ethnic rhinoplasty procedures, it’s imperative to pay close attention to the unique nasal structure and facial features to ensure that the procedure creates a natural and proportionate result. Along with this, an ethnic rhinoplasty procedure is another variation of a conventional/traditional rhinoplasty with specialized conventions to achieve the ideal look for the patient. To validate this, for the patient to be aesthetically pleased with their nose, careful and accurate manipulation of the pieces of the nose needs to completed to ensure that the patient feels normal.
